Born from the Trees
Every piece of wood brings a different facet of the soul into the light, the dialogue between us can be rough first and softening as we get to know each other deeper in the process of bringing out the beauty already in the wood piece while expressing the reflections of the heart.
The process of unveiling that which is already there is allowing me to practice the art of meditation through the reforming of matter and to find answers to my soul's curiosity.

Old Beauty

This is a project of breaking through conceptions of Boundaries and the contrast between what seems Withered .
I chose these very old Land Marking Redwood Posts, weathered by the seasons and years with rusty old square nails and moss growing on them.
Bringing out the beauty in them and reconnecting them to their origin-the Redwood tree.
From a barier between lands creating a separation to art that brings people together .
Tapping to the roots

As we dig into our past we start observing our origins: where we came from, our foundations and conditioning.
Some Manzanita species are native to Santa Cruz like the Arctostaphylos Silvicola Ghostly Manzanita ( also known as Santa Cruz Manzanita, have beautiful red branches and a root burl which outlives the bush and produces an amazing raw material for turning with its gnarly flow and vibrant blood red color.
working with this species is like a box of chocolates, you never know what will come out while keeping you on your toes with its hardness and irregularities.

Arising from the Ashes

As the fire burns away in the forests of California clearing like the waters of a flood without any prejudice or compassion leaving a black trail of tears to follow, it is also the force that seeds the fertile land with the space for new wisdom to arise.
working with theses half wood half coal raw materials, collected from the stumps of the old Redwood Rings that burned over a 100 - 150 years ago is allowing me to bring out a new form, a new wisdom from the ashes.
keeping the live burnt edge as a memory of the old experiences not forgotten but turned into a deeper wisdom.

Since i first came to California i was captivated by the mountains the forests and the ocean.
A sense of home in the shade of the majestic Redwood trees, so i set my shop outside in the forest like a silent partnership of curios exploration.
I'm a minimalist focusing on the experience and process of creation as a metaphor for our soul's  twists and turns in the path to self discovery.
Every piece of wood for my works starts our joint journey from the moment it shows itself to me till the finished or unfinished ( and sometimes exploded ) piece.

As an artist, there is no greater pleasure for me than finding genuine growth and improvement in my projects. As I have grown and matured, so has my art. Below are some of the pieces I recently created in my humble studio.
